THE DAY THE EARTH CAUGHT FIRE! Argh, the Earth is on fire! The setting sun was both dazzling bright and glorious in a surrounding glow of fiery orange, whilst plumes of smoke went scudding off the hills of the northern Pennines just west of Bishop Auckland when this picture was taken. The setting sun really seemed to have set the hills and the broody skies alight. And the smoke? No, the sun was not the cause. But (controlled) heather burning was. Whew, that's all right then!
