A Tribute to Fallen Heroes. Sitting Down, yet Standing Tall! This statue of "Tommy", a statue of a First World War soldier at Terrace Green by the seafront in Seaham, County Durham, North East England was created by Ray Lonsdale to commemorate all those who sacrificed their lives in World War conflicts. It is officially named 1101 "Eleven-O-One" in reference to the first minute of peace as the armistice came into force at 11am on 11 November 1918. Yes, We Shall Remember Them!
