This red-funnelled gramophone was captured in a Durham coffee shop, and reflects the photographer's childhood memory of "His Master's Voice" - a phrase coined in the late 1890s from the title of a painting by English artist Francis Barraud depicting a dog called Nipper listening (whilst tilting his head) to a wind-up-disc gramophone." Nipper the dog? We prefer pussy cats (see cards).
